We cannot speak about mental health without speaking about the conditions that devastate it. The terror being inflicted on our communities, the separation of families, the violence, the dehumanization, creates trauma that will reverberate for generations. As an organization committed to healing through creative expression, we recognize that there can be no healing without justice, no genuine wellness while atrocities are committed in our name.
The photographers in our community come from every corner of the globe. Many are immigrants. Many are undocumented. Many are watching in horror as people who look like them, love like them, or share their story are hunted, detained, and disappeared. The mental health crisis we're witnessing isn't abstract: it's being manufactured by policy and violence.
Today, we stand in solidarity with those participating in the general strike. We stand with immigrant communities. We stand against state-sanctioned violence in all its forms.
In response, The Too Tired Project is opening a special submission portal for work that documents, processes, or responds to this moment. We want to create space for photographers (particularly those directly impacted by ICE raids and immigration enforcement) to share their experiences, their grief, their rage, and their resistance. Your stories matter, and we want this platform to be a space that people can safely gather, share, and process their experiences. We will keep an ongoing gallery online of your submitted work and will share to our social media.
Please do not feel pressured to share your work if it puts you in an unsafe position. Above all, we want everyone to be safe.
We will not stay silent. We will not return to "business as usual" while our community members live in fear.
